Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a pedestrian protection airbag apparatus that is capable of reliably and promptly deploying an airbag in a desired direction. [Solution] The protection airbag apparatus according to the present invention comprises: an airbag that deploys from the boundary section between the hood and the windshield of a vehicle to thereby protect a pedestrian or the like which has collided with the vehicle; and a flap that is provided on the outer periphery of the folded airbag and is capable of controlling the deployment direction of the airbag. The flap comprises a weak section that ruptures or is opened, due to the airbag deploying and inflating, such that the airbag can deploy in a desired deployment direction.
