Abstract:
Provided is an over-car safety fence for an elevator, said over-car safety fence being capable of suppressing an over-car handrail from being broken when an object is caught between the over-car handrail and equipment in the hoistway. This over-car safety fence for an elevator comprises: a first support column that is vertically disposed on the ceiling of the car of the elevator; a second support column that is vertically disposed on the ceiling so as to be separated horizontally from the first support column; and an over-car handrail that is provided to the first support column. The over-car handrail includes an engagement section placed on the second support column, and moves between a handrail installation position at which the engagement section has been placed on the second support column and a handrail release position at which the engagement section has been separated upward from the second support column.
