Abstract:
This method is for producing a composition containing octafluorocyclobutane and octafluorobutane, and comprises (1A) a step for causing a reaction between a raw material composition and a gas containing hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. The hydrogenation catalyst includes a catalyst metal including a transition metal element. The contained amount of the catalyst metal including a transition metal element is 2.0-5.0 mass% when the total amount of the hydrogenation catalyst is defined as 100 mass%. With this production method, it is possible to obtain high purity octafluorocyclobutane without using chlorine that is highly toxic and corrosive.
