Abstract:
An occupant detection device according to the present invention comprises: a sensor that transmits a transmission wave into a cabin of a mobile object and receives a reflected wave generated as a result of the transmission wave being reflected by an object; an acquisition unit that acquires, on the basis of the intensity of the reflected wave, point cloud information indicating the position of an object moving in the cabin in the form of a point cloud comprising a plurality of detection points in a three-dimensional map corresponding to the space in the cabin; a computation unit that calculates, on the basis of the point cloud information, the number of plots indicating the number of detection points at each seating position set in the cabin; and a determination unit that determines that an occupant is present at a seating position subject to detection when a state in which a feature corresponding to time-series changes of the number of plots at the seating position during a first period satisfies a prescribed condition has continued over a second period or longer.
