Abstract:
Provided is a monitoring method for monitoring the surroundings of a stationary vehicle by using a monitoring device provided in the vehicle. This monitoring method comprises: a detection process in which a sensor or the like provided in a vehicle is used to detect objects present around the vehicle, and a suspicious person is detected from among the detected objects; a setting process of setting a detection period of the sensor or the like when executing the detection process; and an output process of outputting suspicious person notification information for notifying a user U1 of the detection of the suspicious person. In the setting process, the detection period is set on the basis of the result of detecting the suspicious person in the detection process.
