Abstract:
Provided is a microscope system that compresses a three-dimensional microscope image at a higher compression ratio than conventionally while retaining three-dimensional image information, and facilitates storage or transfer of data. The microscope system has a microscope 20 that acquires an image of a specimen S in a focal plane, an imaging unit 30 that captures the image acquired by the microscope 20, a focal plane movement mechanism 40 that moves the focal plane in the optical axis direction of the microscope 20, a compression unit 60 that compresses image data of a plurality of images captured by the imaging unit 30 and generates compressed image data, and a control unit 50 that transmits a focal plane control signal for moving the focal plane to prescribed focus coordinates to the focal plane movement mechanism 40, transmits a plurality of imaging timing signals that indicate the timing of capturing of the plurality of images to the imaging unit 30, and transmits layer number data indicating the number of the plurality of imaging timing signals to the compression unit 60.
