Abstract:
A method for producing a polymer which includes a polymerization step in which controlled radical polymerization of a monomer (Y) is conducted in the presence of an organic compound (A) represented by formula (I) and a radical generator (B), the molar ratio of (B) to (A), B/A, being 0.5-20. According to the production method, a high-molecular-weight polymer having high safety can be synthesized with precise regulation of the molecular arrangement, terminal structure, etc. Furthermore, the production method is lowly toxic, is friendly to the environment, and is inexpensive. [In formula (I), R1 is an alkenyl or aryl group, R2 is a group represented by formula (II) or (III), and R1 and R2 may have been bonded to each other to form a ring.] [In formula (II), R3 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or an alkyl, aryl, alkenyl, alkoxy, amino, nitro, cyano, acetyl, trifluoromethyl, or hydroxyl group and * indicates a bond.] [In formula (III), R3 has the same meaning as in formula (II) and * indicates a bond.]
