A METHOD OF MATTRESS OR UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE SPRINGS HAVING IMPROVED MECHANICAL FEATURES WITH EXTRA (ADDITIONAL) HEAT

TREATMENT

DESCRIPTION

TECHNICAL FIELD

The invention relates to a method of mattress or upholstered furniture springs having improved mechanical features with extra (additional) heat treatment used in the mattress industry.

STATE OF THE ART

Open spring systems (Bonnell, offset, etc.), which have been used for a long period, are preferred in a number of products such as spring beds, sofas, bed bases, couches, armchairs, pillows, and office furniture. In order to produce the preferred products, a machine to realize the form of the relevant springs, and after the formation of the springs, a resistance annealing again connected to the machine is required. With this method, products are produced and generally offered to the market. During the use of the preferred products by the end consumer, certain spring-derived deformations arise in the relevant product. These deformations often appear as the loss of height of the springs.

Spring systems that have been used for many years are produced with certain processes and standards. By changing the forms of the springs, they can be used in different ways and different areas according to their intended use. Various types of springs are obtained by changing the properties such as the strength of the springs, spring and wire thicknesses, heights, spring diameters, and spin number.

After the formation of the spring shape during the production of the springs, thanks to a resistance annealing heat treatment in the spring machine, the springs are instantly raised to a temperature of about 300 degrees and cooled to ambient temperature. In this way, the residual stresses are attempted to be removed.

In the state of the art, the conventionally applied process steps are as follows: It consists of three steps: wire drawing production process, spring production process, and spring carcass production process. Then, the final product reaches the end-user. With some spring features, the springs cannot reach the desired performance after conversion into the final product annealed with the annealing process with the conventionally applied spring machine. In this direction, height losses increase during the use of the product. Due to the directly proportional relationship between spin and height, it has been revealed that the springs produced at higher heights need to have increased spins. As the weight of the spring with increased spin increases as well, this causes an increase in the weight of the finished product and the product becomes less competitive in the market due to more raw material consumption.

In the currently produced springs, production cannot be made except for certain hardness and flexibility degrees. With the method of the invention, a functionally reinforced spring is obtained by increasing the hardness and flexibility values with extra (additional) heat treatments.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a method of mattress or upholstered furniture springs having improved mechanical features with extra (additional) heat treatment to eliminate the aforementioned disadvantages and bring new advantages to the related field.

The invention relates to a method of mattress or upholstered furniture springs having improved mechanical features with the provision of extra (additional) heat treatments to the springs produced in production lines such as open spring systems (Bonnell, offset, etc.).

Advantages of the method of the invention are as follows:

• As the open spring systems (spring bed, sofa, bed base, couch, armchair, pillow, and office furniture) are used in a number of fields, a product with a more economic and durable structure is acquired. In addition, the products become more durable and long-lasting for ultimate end users. • The method of the invention is beneficial and long-lasting compared to the conventional springs.

• It provides higher height spring production than conventional methods with a lower wire weight.

• In the use of spring bed, sofa, bed base, couch, armchair, pillow, and office furniture, due to the increase in the height of the spring, the consumption of other possible filling raw materials (such as a sponge, felt, etc.) decreases.

• Since it will produce a lighter spring compared to conventional springs, it provides convenience in the transportation, handling, shipment, and relocation of finished products such as spring bed, sofa, bed base, couch, armchair, pillow, and office furniture.

• As the final items such as mattresses, seating groups, and sofas, which are produced using a spring reinforced with extra (additional) heat treatments and have a more strengthened and flexible structure, will be lighter, there will be an improvement in the carbon emission to the nature that will occur during the transportation of these items.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In this detailed description, preferred alternatives of the method of mattress or upholstered furniture springs having improved mechanical features with extra (additional) heat treatment of the invention are explained for a better understanding of the invention and without any restrictive qualities.

The invention relates to a method of mattress or upholstered furniture springs which are developed for the removal of the residual stresses caused by cold shaping of the wire of the spring machine during the production of the springs used in the production of the mattress and upholstered furniture; functionally reinforced by increasing hardness and flexibility values with extra (additional) heat treatments, and have improved mechanical features.

Thanks to the removal of the stresses with the method of the invention, the loss of height of the spring decreases after the final product. There is a certain relationship between the spins and heights of the springs produced in spring machines. Thanks to the method of the invention, the relationship between this spin and height has also been changed, and a lighter and longer-lasting product is obtained compared to conventional springs. Therefore, thanks to the method of the invention, the necessity of increasing the spins of the springs with increased heights is eliminated with the removal of the stresses. As the reinforced open spring systems (spring bed, sofa, bed base, couch, armchair, pillow, and office furniture) are used in a number of fields, it is more economic and durable. In addition, a durable and long-lasting product is enabled for ultimate end users.

The method of mattress or upholstered furniture springs having improved mechanical features with extra (additional) heat treatment of the invention, wherein it is a method comprising the steps of the wire drawing process (1), the spring production process (2), and the spring carcass production process (3), characterized in that it also comprises a furnace process (4) subjecting the spring carcasses to an extra (additional) heat treatment after said steps of the wire drawing process (1), spring production process (2), and spring carcass production process (3). It is a method of mattress or upholstered furniture springs having improved mechanical features with extra (additional) heat treatment, comprising the furnace process (4) comprising the process steps of:

• homogenous heating between 200-300°C for 15-25 minutes,

• cooling to 25-30°C or ambient temperature.

The process steps of the method of mattress or upholstered furniture springs having improved mechanical features with extra (additional) heat treatment are as follows:

In the wire drawing process (1), steel wires produced from high carbon wire rod with different wire diameters are serially produced with the ends of the springs with or without knots, by forming the same in spring machines.

In the spring production process (2), the springs can be produced with different spins, heights, wire diameters, and spring forms depending on the production capability of the spring machine. After the spring form is formed, the produced springs are immediately subjected to heat treatment between 250-350°C with resistance annealing with 10-30 kW power within the spring machine. After the heat treatment, the springs are left to cool at a temperature of 25-30°C or in the air environment.

In the spring carcass production process (3), the produced springs are brought together manually or automatically and connected by means of spiral wires. In this way, the springs coming together are produced according to the desired width and length.

In the furnace process (4), the spring carcasses produced with desired dimensions and formed by joining of the springs, are subjected to an extra (additional) heat treatment by means of a furnace; homogeneously heated between 200-300°C for 15-25 minutes, and left to cool at a temperature of 25-30°C or in the air environment. Here, heat treatment durations and temperature values can be changed within specified intervals according to the desired strength conditions. The color of the carcass subjected to heat treatment may darken as a result of the resistance to the annealing temperature depending on the type of coating on the wire of which the carcass is produced.

After all processes or process steps are completed, the final product is delivered to the end-user.
