Abstract:
According to the present invention, a controller: calculates a provisional EGR rate Rp, which is a provisional value of a current EGR rate, when a transition from execution to non-execution of EGR occurs while a vehicle is decelerating; if a pressure difference ΔP before and after an EGR valve is equal to or greater than a prescribed value P1, estimates that the provisional EGR rate Rp is an actual EGR rate Rr; and if the pressure difference ΔP before and after the EGR valve is less than the prescribed value P1, adjusts the provisional EGR rate to become smaller, and estimates the provisional EGR rate Rp that has been adjusted (adjusted provisional EGR rate Rpa) to be the actual EGR rate Rr.
