Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. Embodiments disclosed herein provide a method for key synchronization for integrated access and backhaul (IAB) migration in a wireless network (600) by a source IAB Donor-Control Unit (CU) (214). The method includes detecting a migration of an IAB-MT (504) from a source IAB Donor-CU (214) to a target IAB Donor-CU node (224). The IAB-MT remains connected to the source IAB Donor-CU (214) via a F1 connection and establishes radio resource control (RRC) connection with the target IAB Donor-CU (224). Further, the method includes retaining a security context associated with the F1 connection of the IAB-MT based on the detection. Further, the method includes migrating the IAB-MT from the source IAB Donor-CU (214) to the target IAB Donor-CU (224) by establishing a secure RRC connection between the IAB-MT and the target IAB Donor-CU (224).
