Abstract:
The present invention further improves sliding surface durability in a metal member that slides against other members. This metal member has an aluminum metal substrate and an aluminum titanate Al2TiO5 film formed on a sliding surface, which is a section of the metal substrate surface that slides against other members. This metal member is produced by: immersing a pair of electrodes, in which the positive electrode is the metal substrate, in an electrolyte solution L containing a titanate which is a main component; applying voltage between the pair of electrodes; and performing plasma electrolytic oxidation in order to form a film of Al2TiO5 on the sliding surface which is a section of the metal substrate surface that slides against other members.
