Abstract:
Provided are a medium conveying device, a medium feeding method, and a control program that make it possible to align leading edges of media in a more favorable manner before medium feeding starts. This medium conveying device comprises: a feed roller for feeding media loaded on a loading platform in order starting with the lowermost one; a separation roller disposed above the feed roller and opposed to the feed roller; a restriction member provided to push up the media loaded on the loading platform from below, and thus restrict the media from making contact with the feed roller, the restriction member being movable up and down; a pressing member provided to press the media loaded on the loading platform from above, the pressing member being movable up and down; a conveyance roller provided on the loading platform and located upstream of the feed roller and the separation roller in the medium conveyance direction; a drive mechanism for driving the restriction member, the pressing member, and the conveyance roller; and a control unit that controls the drive mechanism so that the drive mechanism causes up-down movements of the restriction member, up-down movements of the pressing member, and rotation of the conveyance roller so as to vibrate the media loaded on the loading platform before the feed roller and the separation roller start medium feeding.
