DESCRIPTION
THE MAGRIP IS A HAND HELD RECHARGEABLE DEVICE.
INTENDED FOR USE IN VARIOUS INDUSTRIES FOR THE ACQUISITION AND EXTRACTION OF FEROMAGNETIC [METALLIC] OBJECTS FROM LOCATIONS INACCESSIBLE TO HUMAN HANDS.
THE MAGRIP IS ALSO USED TO SEPARATE FEROMAGNETIC [METALLIC] OBJECTS FROM NON METALLIC OBJECTS OF SIMILAR SIZE WHERE MANUAL SEPARATION IS PROHIBITIVE DUE TO TIME.
THE DEVICE CONSISTS OF A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY PACK WHICH DOUBLES AS THE HANDLE AND POWER APLICATION SWITCH .THIS EXTENDS VIA A FLEXIBLE UMBILICAL TO THE ELECTROMAGNETIC TIP USED FOR EXTRACTION.
CURRENT PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE WITH PERMANENT MAGNETS INSTALLED WHICH HAVE TWO DISADVANTAGES.
1. THE PERMANENT MAGNET HOLDS THE METALLIC OBJECT UNTIL PHYSICALLY PULLED AWAY.
2. THE PERMANENT MAGNET IS ATTRACTED TO ALL METALLIC PARTS CONSTANTLY WHICH CAN BE PROBLEMATIC WHEN TRYING TO EXTRACT AN OBJECT WITHIN A METALLIC STRUCTURE, EG WITHIN A MOTOR VEHICLE AXLE WHERE THE ACTUAL STRUCTURE WOULD ATTRACT THE MAGNET BEFORE REACHING THE TARGET ITEM.
IN BOTH CASES THE PUSH BUTTON SWITCHED ELECTROMAGNET WOULD OVERCOME THESE PROBLEMS.
