Abstract:
Provided is a machine tool that does not require a large space to be secured around a tool unit and does not require limitation of the turning angle of the tool unit. An automatic lathe (100) is provided with a front main axis (20) that holds a workpiece W, and a turret (31) having a peripheral surface divided into a plurality of turret surfaces (31n, 31c,..., 31k) to which tools (40, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65) are attached, the turret (31) being used to process the workpiece (W) by means of one of the tools selected by rotation of the turret (31) around a Z-axis. In the turret (31), at least one turret surface (31n) among the turret surfaces is configured to have a shorter distance from the Z-axis compared to other remaining turret surfaces (31c to 31k).
