Abstract:
A machine tool (100) capable of machining a workpiece is provided with: a rotary table (20) configured to be able to rotate about a rotation axis; a drive unit (120) for rotary driving the rotary table (20) about the rotation axis; a holding mechanism (15) that is supported by the rotary table (20) and configured to be able to hold a workpiece; and a switch mechanism (30) for switching the drive mode of the holding mechanism (15) between a first drive mode and a second drive mode. In the first drive mode, the rotary driving force for the rotary table (20) by the drive unit (120) is used for the linear motion of the holding mechanism (15) in the rotation axis direction. In the second drive mode, the rotary driving force for the rotary table (20) by the drive unit (120) is used for the rotary motion of the holding mechanism (15) about the rotation axis direction.
