The present invention relates to the related field of semitrailer fifth wheels. Provided is a convenient, safe and light-weight locking device for a fifth wheel. The locking device comprises a pull rod, a limiting block, a safety lock, a lever, a thrust spring, a hook lock, tapered iron and a tapered iron pin. The pull rod is connected to the thrust spring and the tapered iron, and is used for controlling the tapered iron to move. The hook lock is fixed at a point A, and can rotate along with the point A. During the rotation, a point E of the hook lock can collide with a point F of the lever. The limiting block is fixed to a side face of a fifth wheel housing, and is used for fixing the pull rod, thereby preventing the pull rod from sliding. The lever is fixed at a point B and a point C on an inner surface of the fifth wheel housing. The safety lock, the tapered iron pin and the thrust spring are used for controlling the position of the tapered iron. By means of the cooperative arrangement of the pull rod, the tapered iron pin, the safety lock and the thrust spring, the semitrailer fifth wheel can be locked.
