Title:
LIQUID CRYSTAL-BASED TRANSMISSIVE RECONFIGURABLE INTELLIGENT SURFACE DEVICE AND RECONFIGURABLE INTELLIGENT SURFACE UNIT CELL STRUCTURE THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2024/072077
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a liquid crystal (LC)-based transmissive reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) device in a wireless communication system and a liquid crystal-based RIS unit cell structure therefor. A liquid crystal-based transmissive RIS device in a wireless communication system, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure, comprises: control voltage application lines; a plurality of liquid crystal-based transmissive RIS unit cells to which a control voltage is applied through the control voltage application lines; and a RIS controller which applies the control voltage to the plurality of liquid crystal-based transmissive RIS unit cells through the control voltage application lines so as to control resonators in the plurality of liquid crystal-based transmissive RIS unit cells to operate at a resonance frequency, wherein each of the plurality of liquid crystal-based transmissive RIS unit cells includes a first metal pattern operating as a first resonator and a second metal pattern operating as a second resonator, and at least a portion of the first metal pattern and the second metal pattern are physically spaced apart from each other.
