Abstract:
A light transmission device according to the present invention comprises light output units, branching parts, and light modulation parts. The light output units output light having a single wavelength. The branching parts branch the outputted light into light for signal generation and locally emitted light. The light modulation parts modulate the light for signal generation into signal light that has been polarized and multiplexed. A light reception device according to the present invention comprises light detection units, signal processing units, and polarization control units. The light detection units each coherently detect signal light transmitted through a light transmission path by using locally emitted light transmitted through a light transmission path that differs from the light transmission path through which the signal light has been transmitted. On the basis of the signals obtained through the coherent detection, the signal processing units generate locally emitted light polarization control information for compensating for variations in polarization of locally emitted light during the transmission. The polarization control units use the locally emitted light polarization control information to control the polarization of the locally emitted light used by the respective light detection units in the coherent detection.
