Abstract:
A filter for mounting within a high-pressure filtration vessel such that a fluid stream passing through the vessel does so via the filter, the filter comprising: a plurality of elongate filter elements, wherein each filter element is generally cylindrical and comprises: a filter screen; and a support structure, wherein a burst or collapse failure differential pressure Pf of a filter element is defined whereby: Yp is the minimum yield stress of the filter element; K is the derating factor of the filter element; t is the characteristic thickness of the filter element; and Df is the diameter of the filter element, wherein Yp, K, t and Df are selected to provide a Pf of between 1000 PSI and 2000 PSI.
