Title:
ETCHED COPPER CATALYST FOR ELECTROCHEMICAL CO2 REDUCTION INTO METHANE, PREPARATION METHOD THEREFOR, AND USE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2024/012313
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an etched copper catalyst for an electrochemical CO2 reduction into methane, a preparation method therefor and a use thereof. The catalyst uses a commercial copper foil as a main body, and active sites are obtained by means of electroetching, where the active sites are Cu(111) crystal surfaces. The preparation method comprises: pickling a commercial copper foil to remove surface impurities and an oxide layer; placing the pickled copper foil into an acidic electrolyte for potentiostatic etching; cleaning the etched copper foil, and then carrying out vacuum drying in an inert atmosphere to obtain the copper catalyst. The use comprises: introducing CO2 into a cathode electrolytic cell, pre-saturating an electrolyte, and performing activation treatment on a working electrode; with CO2 being continuously introduced, utilizing potentiostatic electrolysis, and electrochemically reducing CO2 into methane. The catalyst disclosed by the present invention has a simple preparation method and is high in catalytic activity, same can realize electrocatalytic CO2 reduction into methane, and same has higher selectivity.
