This electric motor comprises: a rotor that has a rotating shaft; a commutator that is attached to the rotating shaft; a brush that is in contact with the commutator; and a brush box that houses the brush. The brush box has: a resin member (e.g., a brush case portion) that is formed from a resin material; and a metal member (e.g., a metal plate) that is formed from a metal material. The metal member has: a cover portion that covers the brush; and a first press-fit portion that is press-fit into a first recessed portion formed in the resin member. The resin-member-side surface of the first press-fit portion includes a folded-back surface that is folded back toward the direction opposite the press-fit direction of the first press-fit portion. An end portion of the first press-fit portion has a corner portion constituted from the folded-back surface and a side surface continuous from the folded-back surface. The first press-fit portion is press-fit into the resin member by connection of the corner portion to the side surface of the first recessed portion.
