Abstract:
An electric discharge machining power supply device (50) applies a voltage for electric discharge machining between machining poles formed by a tool electrode (E) and a workpiece (W). The electric discharge machining power supply device (50) comprises direct-current power supplies (10, 20), switching elements (11, 21), a detection circuit (4), and control circuits (12, 22). The detection circuit (4) detects a first direct-current voltage between the machining poles as a result of either one of the switching elements (11, 21) being controlled to the ON state, or an electric discharge generated when a second direct-current voltage of opposite polarity to the first direct-current voltage is applied, and the control circuits (12, 22) control the switching element that was controlled to the ON state to the OFF state and control the switching element that was controlled to the OFF state to the ON state when the electric discharge is detected.
