The present invention relates to: earphones having an ANC automatic blocking function that enhances safety by automatically disabling an ANC function when a danger alert sound occurs externally during ANC operation by using unique sound information of the danger alert sound; and a control method thereof, the earphones comprising: a danger alert sound information registration unit for registering and storing unique sound information of a danger alert sound certified by a public institution; an external sound recognition unit for recognizing external sound when the ANC function is operating; a sound information comparison and analysis unit for comparing the sound information recognized by the external sound recognition unit with the sound information registered in the danger alert sound information registration unit, and analyzing and determining whether there is matching sound information; an ANC function maintenance and blocking control unit for immediately blocking the ANC function when there is sound information that matches the sound information recognized by the external sound recognition unit as a result of the analysis by the sound information comparison and analysis unit.
