Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a compound which enables the achievement of a liquid crystal composition that has a high Tni, a large ∆n, a low Vth, a large ∆εr and a small tanδiso, while having good storage stability at low temperatures; a liquid crystal composition; and a liquid crystal display element, a sensor, a liquid crystal lens, an optical communication device and an antenna, each of which uses this liquid crystal composition. The present invention specifically provides: a compound which is represented by general formula (i), while having an ethynylene group (-C≡C-) and an isothiocyanate group (-NCS); and a liquid crystal composition which contains one or more kinds of this compound.
