Abstract:
This novel compound, represented by expression (1), has an extremely high absorption in the wavelength range 350-510 nm and functions as a dichroic dye. (In the expression, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group of 1-20 carbon atoms, etc.; R2-R4 are substituents other than a hydrogen atom, and each independently represents an alkyl group of 1-4 carbon atoms, etc.; m, p and q each independently represents an integer 0-2, R5 represents an alkyl group of 1-10 carbon atoms substituted by at least one hydroxy group, or, an alkyl group of 1-10 carbon atoms comprising at least one -O- inserted between the carbon atoms making up the alkyl group.)
