Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating radiation-resistant head and neck cancer, the composition comprising a melandrium herb extract as an active ingredient. The melandrium herb extract according to the present invention was found to effectively kill radiation-resistant head and neck cancer cell lines. In addition, the melandrium herb extract was found to induce apoptosis of radiation-resistant head and neck cancer cell lines by inducing the production of ROS related to apoptosis. In addition, it was discovered that the melandrium herb extract could more effectively kill radiation-resistant head and neck cancer cell lines when used in combination with radiation treatment than when used by itself.
