Abstract:
A composition containing gomisin G as an active ingredient, according to the present invention, has been confirmed to inhibit protein expression of myostatin, atrogin1, MuRF1 which are involved in muscle degradation, and it has been confirmed that, when a small amount of gomisin G is administered in a hindlimb immobilization-induced muscular atrophy mouse model, a muscle strength improvement effect is achieved by enabling changing from fast muscle fibers to slow muscle fibers through increased mitochondrial biogenesis, and the composition has been confirmed to have the effect of preventing, improving, or treating muscular atrophy by increasing muscle mass or inhibiting decreased muscle mass by regulating a gene involved in muscle protein synthesis and muscle protein decay, and thus the composition for preventing, improving, or treating muscular atrophy, containing gomisin G as an active ingredient of the present invention may be usefully employed as a health functional food and a pharmaceutical composition.
