Abstract:
Provided are a composition and a method that act on arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, enhance the ability of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to infect plants, and can thus promote symbiosis with plants. The composition for enhancing the infectiousness of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi contains an active ingredient that is a secoiridoid glycoside, an iridoid glycoside, a glycoside in which glucopyranose is O-glycosidically linked to the 2-position of a 3,4-dihydropyran ring skeleton, or a dried product or an extract of a plant from the family Gentianaceae. The present invention also provides a soil improvement method that involves adding the composition to soil.
