Abstract:
The present invention increases the degree of freedom in changing paper feed racks with a continuous-feed function and enhances convenience. The collating apparatus according to one aspect feeds paper sheets one by one loaded in three or more paper feed racks arranged in the vertical direction to a common conveyance path, using a plurality of feeding mechanisms, and includes a detector, a feeding control means, and a setting change means. The detector detects when there are no paper sheets in the paper feed racks. The feeding control means operates each of the feeding mechanisms corresponding to paper feed racks which are set to be operational from among the plurality of paper feed racks, so that the paper sheet fed out by the feeding mechanism is stacked in the common conveyance path with paper sheets fed by other feeding mechanisms. The setting change means cancels the operational setting of a paper feed rack when the detector detects there is no paper, and if the paper feed rack is in a continuous-feed setting, changes to the operational setting a predetermined paper feed rack from among paper feed racks adjacent to or not adjacent to said paper feed rack.
