Abstract:
The present invention achieves a reduction in the cost of a negative pressure source, and consequently a cloth stretching device, and/or a reduction in power consumption by the negative pressure source during operation of the cloth stretching device. This cloth stretching device is provided with: a stretching unit that includes stretching clamps which stretch an upper-edge section of a fed cloth in a lateral direction; and a conveyance unit that includes an intermediate moving body and a belt conveyor, the intermediate moving body receiving the upper edge section of the cloth from the stretching clamps at an advanced position, suctioning and retaining the upper edge section of the cloth on an upper surface thereof, and then releasing the upper edge section of the cloth while moving rearward from said position, and the belt conveyor receiving the upper edge section of the cloth released from the intermediate moving body and conveying the entirety of the cloth rearward. The conveyance unit comprises: numerous suction holes distributed and arranged across a lateral range of the upper surface of the intermediate moving body corresponding to at least a set maximum lateral width of the upper-edge section of the cloth; a negative pressure source that draws out air in the interior of the intermediate moving body to form a negative-pressure region therein; and a suction force maintaining means that maintains the suction force of the suction holes regardless of the extent of the lateral width of the upper-edge section of the cloth.
