Abstract:

A chain tensioner wherein air remaining in a pressure chamber is exhausted to the outside from a helical screw gap (22) formed at a threaded engagement section between a screw hole (18) and a screw (20), and from a separated section (24) of a spring washer (21) inserted between the screw (20) and a housing (10), with the seating surface (20b) of the head (20a) of the screw (20) being provided with exhaust grooves (25) connecting an annular space (23) to the outside, said annular space being formed between the outer diameter surface of the neck (20c) of the screw (20) and the inner diameter surface of the spring washer (21). When the exhausting of air is impeded by foreign matter clogging the separated section (24) of the spring washer (21), air in the pressure chamber can be exhausted to the outside from the exhaust grooves (25).
