Abstract:
The present application relates to the field of communications, and provides a cell selection method and a terminal device. In a cell selection process, the capability requirement for a terminal device is reduced. The method comprises: a terminal device acquires target signals of target cells; when the terminal device continuously and successfully acquires a target signals, the terminal device determines that the target cells are camping cells, wherein a is a positive integer greater than a threshold b, and the camping cells are cells meeting cell selection criterion requirements of the terminal device; or when the number of target signals continuously and successfully acquired by the terminal device is smaller than or equal to the threshold b, the terminal device determines that the target cells are non-camping cells, wherein the non-camping cells are cells which do not meet the cell selection criterion requirements of the terminal device.
