The purpose of the present invention is to make it possible to preserve magnetic information read-out performance of a card processing device while alleviating illicit reading-out of magnetic information from a magnetic card. Provided is a card processing device, comprising: a card conveyance path whereupon a magnetic card is conveyed from being inserted into a card insertion aperture to being ejected from the card insertion aperture; first and second magnetic field emission units which respectively emit jamming magnetic fields in proximity to the card insertion aperture; and a control unit which controls the operation of the first and second magnetic field emission units. While the first magnetic field emission unit and the second magnetic field emission unit are emitting the jamming magnetic fields, if a prescribed operation is to be carrying out with regard to the magnetic card upon the card conveyance path, the control unit causes the first magnetic field emission unit to sustain the emission of the jamming magnetic field and causes the second magnetic field emission unit to suspend the jamming magnetic field.
