Abstract:
Provided are an on-board camera (4) and a rear confirmation camera system using the camera, by which the opening and closing of a protective shutter (48) can be stably carried out even if supplied power drops. The on-board camera (4) includes an imaging window and a protective shutter (48) for protecting the imaging window, and is provided with the following: a motor (46) that opens and closes the protective shutter (48); an video unit (43) that captures video; a power supply unit that supplies camera power supplied from a vehicle (1) by distributing such power to the motor (46) and the video unit (43); and an video power source control unit (44) that controls the power distribution of the power source unit. If an operation for opening the protective shutter (48) has begun, the video power source control unit (44) instructs the power source unit to begin supplying power to the video unit (43) after the continuation for a prescribed amount of time of a state in which the supply of power to the video unit (43) has been stopped, and the video power source control unit instructs the power source unit to stop supplying power to the video unit (43) if an operation for closing the protective shutter (48) has begun.
