The purpose of the present invention is to provide an apparatus for laterally welding a can-cap of a prismatic secondary battery, the apparatus according to the present invention characterized by comprising: a positioning support frame (120) which is coupled to a base frame (110) so as to be movable in the X-axis direction; a positioning clamp unit (130) which is coupled so as to be movable in the Y-axis direction of the positioning support frame (120) and fixes a can assembly (3) having a jelly roll embedded inside a can (3CA) and caps coupled to both ends of the can (3CA); a turn clamp table (140) coupled to the positioning support frame (120); a clamp turning member (158) rotatably mounted to the turn clamp table (140); a can assembly clamp unit (160) which is mounted to the clamp turning member (158) and clamps and fixes the can assembly (3); and a welding unit (170) provided with a welding head (178) for welding, to the can (3CA), the caps of the can assembly (3) fixed by the can assembly clamp unit (160).
