Abstract:
The present invention relates to an anti-inflammatory pharmaceutical composition comprising a Caulerpa okamurae extract. The composition of the present invention is non-toxic to chondrocytes and has anti-inflammatory effects. The pharmaceutical composition and health functional food of the present invention inhibit the expression of cartilage matrix decomposing enzymes (ADAMTS-4, 5 and MMT-1, 3, 13) and stimulate the expression of cartilage matrix constituents (collagen type II) decomposed by inflammation, thereby showing an excellent cartilage protection effect.
