Abstract:
This air conditioner comprises: a heat source side unit that has a compressor and a heat source side heat exchanger; a load-side unit that has a load-side flow control device and a load-side heat exchanger and performs cooling operation or heating operation; and a relay unit that is connected to the heat source side unit by a first refrigerant pipe and a second refrigerant pipe, and to the load-side unit by a first branch refrigerant pipe and a second branch refrigerant pipe, and supplies refrigerant supplied from the heat source side unit to the load-side unit. The relay unit has a branch portion that allows communication between the first branch refrigerant pipe and the first refrigerant pipe when the load-side unit is in cooling operation, and that allows communication between the first branch refrigerant pipe and the second refrigerant pipe when the load-side unit is in heating operation, the branch portion having an expansion valve that is connected to the first branch refrigerant pipe and the second refrigerant pipe and the opening of which is adjustable.
