Abstract:
The present invention provides an additive for a lubricant, said additive containing ZrO2 particles coated with a silane coupling agent and a medium in which the ZrO2 particles are dispersed. The BET specific surface area of the silane-coupling-agent coated ZrO2 particles obtained after the dispersion medium has been removed is 40% or more of the BET specific surface area of the ZrO2 particles prior to being coated with the silane coupling agent.
