PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency in the flaw detection of welded parts with an automatic detection of welded parts of a steel pipe by determining received signals sequentially in a time series from a plurality of transmitting/receiving coils mounted along the circumference of the steel pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of transmitting/receiving coils 11AW11C are mounted on the surface of a steel pipe opposite to an electromagnetic core 10 along the circumference thereof and received signal levels of the transmitting/receiving coils 11AW11C are determined sequentially in a time series. This enables the detection of the position of welded parts 2 of the steel pipe 1. Thus, the welded parts of the steel pipe can be automatically detected to improve the efficiency in the flaw detection of the welded parts.
