A phrase extender 232 issues a prompt for a subscriber till a dual tone multi-frequency DTMF signal is detected or a voice and logging monitor 230 returns a set of candidate results to a control unit 100. Then a recognition result processor 144 retrieves and evaluates the set of candidate results and returns the value of the results to an interpreter 134. If the evaluation result by the recognition result processor 144 indicates that a reply by a subscriber is not good, the recognition is repeated and other recognition event is started. The current prompt is being changed according to number of times of repeated recognition. When the subscriber result is not good and a count of the repetition is exceeded, the interpreter 134 transfers its control to a DTMF-user interface and terminates the processing.
