Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of forming a recess having a sharp angle in a hollow tube in which no material is removed, the wall thickness of the tube is kept constant, its outside diameter is not changed and the fiber orientation of metal is kept.
SOLUTION: A riveter 4 is used in this method. The riveter 4 itself is a well-known machine, and is provided with a rivet tightening head fitted to a spindle which is operated in linking with a press and a fixed semi-clamp 5. The rivet tightening head of the machine is replaced by a forming tool 9 which is adaptable to the contour of a required recess and in particular, to a sharp angle of the recess. A tube 1 to which the recess is required, is arranged between the forming tool and the fixed semi-clamp, the press is operated to cause the operation of the spindle so that the recess is formed in the tube 1.
