To solve problems caused by a thrust washer in a fluid torque transmission device.
In a torque converter 1, a piston 41 is arranged so that the space between a front cover 2 and a turbine 4 is divided into a front chamber F at the front cover side and a rear chamber R at the turbine chamber, and can approach or can be alienated from the front cover 2 by the differential pressure between the front chamber F and the rear chamber R by fluid. The piston 41 has a disk-like body 41a, and a friction interlocking section (friction facing 61) that is arranged at the outer periphery section of the body 41a and is capable of friction connection to the front cover 2. A turbine hub 23 and the front cover 2 have opposing sections (63, 23a) that oppose each other with an axial gap. The piston 41 has a support section 48 for supporting a turbine 4 axially when the piston 41 is moved to the side of the front cover. When the piston 41 most approaches the front cover 2, a gap is secured axially between the opposing sections (63, 23a).
