Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a button holing machine by which the buttonholes different in length can be formed by one fabric cutting knife without exchanging the knife.
SOLUTION: This button holing machine is provided with a fabric cutting knife 16 for forming a buttonhole on a sewing object, a fabric feeding mechanism capable of making the sewing object reciprocate, a needle swinging mechanism for jogging a needle across the fabric feeding direction of a fabric feeding means and a control means capable of controlling the operation of the fabric cutting knife, the fabric feeding mechanism and the needle swinging mechanism. The buttonhole and button holing stitches are formed by cooperating the respective configurations, and the buttonhole longer than the blade length of the fabric cutting knife is formed by executing fabric cutting operation plural times by means of the fabric cutting knife while the prescribed position of the sewing object where the buttonhole is formed by the fabric cutting knife is moved between the operating positions of fabric cutting operation by the fabric feeding mechanism under the control of the control means.
